CM Punjab Laptop Scheme: Registration now open for students

LAHORE: Punjab’s government has started the registration process for the “CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025“. Initially, 50,000 laptops would be distributed, not 110,000 due to 2024 elections.

The laptops will be the latest 13th generation Core i7 devices. The scheme is intended for deserving candidates, which include 2,000 minority kids and those who excelled at the Secondary and Higher Secondary School Examinations.

Students from South Punjab will get 32% of the laptops. The courses are: computer science, medicine, science, engineering, social sciences, business, language, veterinary medicine, and agriculture.

How to register for the Punjab laptop scheme?

Students who meet the requirements can apply online right now at cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk. To apply for the free laptop, they must first submit their information online.

Merit Criteria for the Punjab Laptop Scheme

As per details, laptops will be distributed to first and second-semester students in the first phase.

The merit criteria have been set at a minimum of 65 percent for BS students and 80 percent for medical students, based on their intermediate examination marks.

Eligibility criteria for the laptop scheme

The eligibility criteria for getting the laptop under the Punjab government’s scheme include:

  • Must be domiciled in any district of Punjab.
  • Applicant’s age should not exceed 22 years as of the last date.
  • Family monthly income should be less than Rs 300,000 (Affidavit will be required).
  • The applicant must be enrolled in the selected subjects in the selected universities and colleges in Fall Session 2024.

The selection of students for the CM Punjab Laptop Scheme will be based on the following factors:

  • Academic Performance: Students with higher marks and GPAs will be prioritized.
  • Written Exam: Some students may be required to pass an online written exam.
  • Document Verification: All submitted documents will be verified by the Punjab Higher Education Commission.
