ISLAMABAD: The German training system, known as Ausbildung, is a unique vocational education program that combines theoretical education with practical training.
The training system there is known worldwide for its practical foundation and high quality. The system not only provides students with theoretical education but also offers them direct practical experience in companies, which is highly beneficial for future job opportunities.
There is a wide range of training courses in Germany, including engineering (such as automotive engineering), IT and software development, nursing and healthcare, hotel management and tourism, business administration, electrical and mechanical trades, as well as other fields such as pharmacy assistant, logistics, and retail management.
These courses usually last between 2 and 3.5 years and provide not only education but also direct skills in the practical field. Nursing and IT are popular fields for Pakistani students as they offer more job opportunities.
Students in the German training system are also paid a salary during their training, which can usually range from 600 to 1200 euros and this stipend increases year by year.
This facility helps to reduce the financial burden for students, and some companies also include additional benefits such as accommodation or transport allowance.
The amount of the salary depends on the course, company and city, for example, it can be higher in big cities like Berlin or Munich.
Generally, the age limit for training programs is 18 to 35 years; however, some courses also relax this age requirement, especially if the candidate has relevant experience or higher education.
According to the German Federal Government, the upper age limit for foreign candidates is flexible, but those below 18 years of age cannot be admitted.
Pakistani students are advised to apply before the age of 25 to facilitate visa approval.
Contact the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have the translated documents apostilled. This process is necessary for the legal authentication of the documents.
A list of recognized translators can be found on the Goethe-Institut or German embassy website.
Interested students can apply directly through online portals such as Make-it-in-Germany or the Bundesagentur für Arbeit website.
In addition, the German Embassy in Islamabad, Karachi Consulate, and recognized institutions such as DAAD or Goethe-Institut also provide guidance on the application process.
The application process usually starts with the company website, where you submit your application, followed by an interview and visa processing.
Visas for Pakistanis are granted after approval from ZAV, and the process can take 3 to 6 months.
