Ausbildung program for Pakistanis

ISLAMABAD: The German training system, known as Ausbildung, is a unique vocational education program that combines theoretical education with practical training.

The training system there is known worldwide for its practical foundation and high quality. The system not only provides students with theoretical education but also offers them direct practical experience in companies, which is highly beneficial for future job opportunities.

Ausbildung courses

There is a wide range of training courses in Germany, including engineering (such as automotive engineering), IT and software development, nursing and healthcare, hotel management and tourism, business administration, electrical and mechanical trades, as well as other fields such as pharmacy assistant, logistics, and retail management.

These courses usually last between 2 and 3.5 years and provide not only education but also direct skills in the practical field. Nursing and IT are popular fields for Pakistani students as they offer more job opportunities.

Stipend in Ausbildung courses

Students in the German training system are also paid a salary during their training, which can usually range from 600 to 1200 euros and this stipend increases year by year.

This facility helps to reduce the financial burden for students, and some companies also include additional benefits such as accommodation or transport allowance.

The amount of the salary depends on the course, company and city, for example, it can be higher in big cities like Berlin or Munich.

Age limit

Generally, the age limit for training programs is 18 to 35 years; however, some courses also relax this age requirement, especially if the candidate has relevant experience or higher education.

According to the German Federal Government, the upper age limit for foreign candidates is flexible, but those below 18 years of age cannot be admitted.

Pakistani students are advised to apply before the age of 25 to facilitate visa approval.

Documents required for Pakistanis

  • Passport with at least 6 months’ validity
  • National Identity Card
  • Educational Qualifications (must be certified by the Higher Education Commission)
  • German Language: At least B1 level certificate from the Goth Institute or a recognized institution. B2 or higher may also be required for some courses.
  • English Language: If the course is in English, an IELTS score of at least 5.5 or a TOEFL is required.
  • CV: An updated and professional CV in German or English is also required.
  • Motivation letter
  • Health certificate (Some programs, especially nursing or healthcare, require a medical fitness certificate.
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Additional documents (if required):
  • Proof of financial resources (e.g., approximately 11,208 euros per year in a blocked account).
  • Experience certificates (if you have any experience in the relevant field).
  • Letters of recommendation (if required by the company or course).
  • Translation and apostille
  • Get all documents (passport, ID card, educational certificates, etc.) translated into German or English

Contact the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have the translated documents apostilled. This process is necessary for the legal authentication of the documents.

A list of recognized translators can be found on the Goethe-Institut or German embassy website.

How to apply for Ausbildung courses

Interested students can apply directly through online portals such as Make-it-in-Germany or the Bundesagentur für Arbeit website.

In addition, the German Embassy in Islamabad, Karachi Consulate, and recognized institutions such as DAAD or Goethe-Institut also provide guidance on the application process.

The application process usually starts with the company website, where you submit your application, followed by an interview and visa processing.

Visas for Pakistanis are granted after approval from ZAV, and the process can take 3 to 6 months.
