LAHORE: Good news for thousands of teachers involved in conducting the socio-economic survey, as the government has approved a Rs4,000 compensation for duties performed on public holidays.

As per official directives passed by the Punjab Urban Unit, teachers who are entrusted with the survey work on Sundays or public holidays will be paid Rs 4,000 per day.

The sources revealed that the decision was taken after receiving several complaints against the non-payment of allowances to teachers working on survey duties.

To this effect, the Punjab Urban Unit has formally issued letters to all relevant departments and authorities to expedite the process of compensation without any further delay.

Teachers’ organizations welcomed the move, saying that remuneration for extra work is the rightful claim of teachers.

Teachers’ unions say the step would help improve both the quality and efficiency of the survey process as a whole, while addressing teachers’ concerns.
