ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced that the next MDCAT test for medical and dental colleges admissions will be conducted strictly on a domicile basis. The students will have to appear in the province of their domicile and will not be allowed to sit for the test from any other place, media reports stated.
For this purpose, universities in all four provinces and Islamabad have been identified as exam centers. These are IBA Sukkur, Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences in Quetta, and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) in Islamabad.
There will be a special center in Islamabad to house Sindh and Balochistan candidates. Appointments for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa candidates will be held at their respective provincial universities.
SZABMU students from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and all provinces can also sit for the test, although the seats will be given based on their provincial quotas.
PMDC has also clarified that a legitimate domicile of the concerned province will be essential for admission in medical and dental institutions. Besides, specially reserved seats continue to be reserved for candidates from Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Council also adjusted the schedule of MDCAT due to the recent floods in the country. Originally scheduled for October 5, 2025, the test will now be conducted on Sunday, October 26, 2025, as ordered by Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal.
