LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced a public holiday on May 1 on the occasion of Labor Day, declaring a province-wide holiday through an official notification.
According to the notification, all government offices, private offices, and educational institutions will remain closed on Friday throughout Lahore and the rest of Punjab.
The Sindh government has also announced a public holiday on Labor Day, extending the observance to another major province. The federal government is also expected to issue a formal notification declaring a public holiday across the country.
The decision comes as Labour Day is observed annually on May 1 to recognize the contributions of workers and highlight their role in economic and social development.
The day is marked each year with public holidays and official observance across the country.
