Punjab govt imposes ban on smoking in govt & private schools

LAHORE: The provincial government of Punjab has announced a ban on smoking and use of tobacco-related products in all government and private schools across the province, here on Tuesday.

As per the details, the move is aimed at discouraging smoking among students and promoting a healthy environment in educational institutions.

According to an official notification issued by the Secretary School Education Punjab, all district education authorities have been directed to strictly implement the ban. The notification clearly prohibits the use of cigarettes, vapes, nicotine pouches, shisha and other intoxicating items in school premises.

It says the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against the use of drugs and tobacco in educational institutions. Officials have warned that strict action will be taken against schools violating the directive.
