LAHORE: The Teacher’s National Assessment (TNA) test in Punjab has been rescheduled to October 26, 2024, Saturday, after its initial cancellation due to a strong boycott from educators.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat made the announcement, emphasizing the importance of the assessment and mandating participation for all teachers.
The test aims to identify training needs and skill gaps among teachers, but educators with MA/MSc and M.Phil degrees have opposed the mandatory assessment, arguing that their previous hiring through rigorous interviews makes additional testing unnecessary.
Educators in Punjab have sparked a boycott movement, urging the government to reconsider its approach and recognize their qualifications. The minister has reassured that the results will be shared by 720 designated assessment officers following a detailed assessment.
The TNA test is part of the School Education Department’s efforts to enhance teachers’ professional development.
