LAHORE: The Lahore District Education Authority has issued show-cause notices to more than a dozen private schools for violating the extension of summer vacations by opening classes early.

According to officials, a surprise inspection by undercover teams found that schools were operating during recess, which is a violation of the Punjab Private Educational Institutions Act. The notices direct the school principal to appear before the authority and explain his actions or face legal action.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat reiterated that the extended summer vacations apply to all private institutions, warning parents to report any violations.

The Punjab Education Department has announced that all schools across the province will now reopen on September 1 instead of August 14, citing the ongoing heat wave.
