Govt orders private schools to provide free education to THESE students

Sindh, Punjab announce summer vacation schedules for schools

LAHORE: The Punjab Department of Education has ordered that private schools would have to offer free education to 10 percent of their enrollment, targeting students from poor families, poor children, and children with disabilities.

To implement this, the department revived the Private Schools Ordinance 2014 and directed education officers to ensure compliance.

The Education Ministry is also collecting rolls of students to receive free education. Private institutions are obliged to provide admission information. The survey is to be completed by August 31, after the holiday break.

Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat pointed out that private schools would be made accountable to achieve this goal. He also declared that Punjab plans to launch its first autism schools for special children.
