PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has said the summer vacations for educational institutions in the province’s plain areas start from May 22 and run through August 31, 2026.

As per the education department sources, the summer holidays were earlier planned to begin on June 1. But May 22, 23, and 24 they already match the usual Friday, Saturday, and Sunday weekly holidays, so everything kinda shifts.

After that, institutions would have only reopened for two days on May 25 and May 26. Then the Eid al-Adha holidays would come in from May 27 and continue till May 31, so authorities decided to launch the vacation a bit earlier, instead of waiting.

Officials also said that the earlier announced timetable for summer vacations in the plain and extremely cold mountainous stretches of the province is still the same, basically unchanged.

Meanwhile, the education department added that in the coldest mountain districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, summer vacations will be held from July 1 to July 31, 2026.
