Teachers to get long awaited promotions soon

LAHORE: The Punjab Higher Education Department has asked the DPI (Colleges) to settle long-pending promotion cases of over 300 teachers and officers in the province.

The promotion is for teachers in the college general cadre, commerce, and library services, and will upgrade eligible staff to grade 19 and grade 20 posts.

As per departmental officials, the promotion procedure had been held up for six to twelve months in view of several technical objections and procedural issues. The long period of inaction allegedly induced immense psychological tension in most deserving candidates.

The halt was especially disappointing for some of the teachers who retired during the halt, losing their last opportunity for promotion after all these years.

Authorities now claim the fresh orders are meant to clear the pendency and give deserving recognition to those still working. With new instructions released, DPI Colleges have been directed to complete the promotion process immediately, with all pending cases being examined and approved without delay.
