BS degree teachers in Punjab set for long-awaited promotions

Sindh makes licensing test compulsory for teacher recruitment

LAHORE: Teachers with 4-year BS degrees are finally set to get long-awaited promotions in Punjab as they have been included in the new promotion policy, which is now ready for approval by a cabinet committee.

Thousands of BS degree holders have been denied promotions despite being on the seniority list for years. Many have been waiting for promotions for eight years.

Their exclusion from the previous promotion policies had led to widespread frustration among the qualified teaching staff. The new policy, once formally approved, will ensure that these teachers are no longer overlooked.

It is expected to provide a clear path for career advancement for those who had completed 4-year BS degrees but were previously removed.

Officials say the move is aimed at bridging the gap between BS and other degree holders in the education sector. Teachers believe this is a long-overdue reform that will boost morale and improve fairness in the promotion system.
