KARACHI: Sindh Education Department has explained that no public holiday has been announced for Tuesday, refuting rumors that have been circulating on social media.
The department’s spokesperson said that a notification of college closures was “manipulated and lacked authenticity.” The official assured that all educational institutions in Sindh would open as usual.
The department said that any decision on the closure of schools or colleges would be made only according to the prevailing situation.
The clarification came after a spurious notification was circulated on social media, which misleadingly stated that all Karachi schools would not open.
Heavy to moderate rain was seen in Karachi on Monday night. Weather forecasts had previously indicated very heavy rains and thunderstorms that may result in urban flooding across the city.
