LAHORE: With the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) taking the lead in the Punjab Assembly, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar has said that Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the party, will shortly choose the province’s next chief minister.

Speaking during a press conference on Sunday, Tarar stated that the PML-N was consulting with allies to choose a candidate for Punjab’s next CM. Additionally, he asserted that the PML-N would have 160 members in the Punjab Assembly. The former law minister bemoaned the attempt to call into question the outcome of the election.

He mentioned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) without mentioning it by name and stated that although one party had concerns about the election results, the same party was celebrating the results in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and asserting that people had voted for them.

“We honor every party’s mandate and anticipate the same behavior from others,” Azam Tarar declared, noting that the PML-N’s central figures, like Khawaja Saad Rafique and Rana Sanaullah, had also lost in the polls.
