Gilgit-Baltistan Elections
GILGIT: On the directions of the Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan, a ban has been imposed on carrying mobile phones and any device that records photos or videos inside polling stations under the Elections Act 2017.
According to the orders issued, election staff, candidates, polling agents and voters will not be able to carry mobile phones inside polling stations. This measure has been taken to protect the secrecy of the vote and ensure transparency of the election process.
Media representatives and observers approved by the Election Commission will be exempted from this ban. The Chief Election Commissioner has directed the District Returning Officers and Returning Officers to ensure strict implementation of the orders.
According to the announcement, legal action will be taken against those violating the ban under the Elections Act 2017.
It should be noted that elections are being held for 24 seats of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and the polling process is underway and will continue until 5 pm.
