Beef and Mutton price rise in Karachi before Eid-ul-Fitr; Check new prices

Once again, the prices of beef and mutton in Karachi have risen, with butchers increasing them by Rs. 200 per kilogram. Beef now costs Rs. 1600 per kilogram, while mutton is priced at Rs. 2400 per kilogram.

This price increase happened right before Eid-ul-Fitr when people usually eat more meat.

Butchers attribute these increases to heightened meat exports to the Middle East and other countries, as well as the smuggling of cattle to places like Iran and Afghanistan.

Because of the unprecedented demand, cattle prices have skyrocketed, forcing butchers to pass these costs along to customers.

Veal (Bachia) flesh is now being sold for Rs. 1600 per kilogram without a bone and Rs. 1400 per kilogram with a bone. Retailers of mutton charge Rs. 2400 per kilogram.

Prices for boneless veal have jumped from Rs. 1200 to Rs. 1600 per kilogram, while those for mutton have gone from Rs. 1900 to Rs. 2400 per kilogram since January.

Meat vendors blame rising exports and transportation expenses for the continuous market swings, notwithstanding the ineffectual government oversight.

Essentially, changes in worldwide demand and logistical challenges are to blame for the surge in prices of beef and mutton in Karachi, which affects customers during this festive season.
