LAHORE: A 14-year-old girl in Lahore has sadly succumbed to dengue fever, marking the first confirmed fatality from the disease in the city this year.
The girl was admitted to Mayo Hospital two days prior with a high fever, but despite medical efforts, she fell victim to complications from the viral infection.
This tragic event has prompted the Punjab Health Department to confirm the death and express concern over the ongoing dengue outbreak in the region.
The authorities are now urging the public to take preventive measures as dengue cases continue to rise across the province.
Residents need to take precautions, especially since dengue fever can be severe, with symptoms including high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash.
In some cases, the disease can develop into life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome.
By taking these precautions, residents can reduce their risk of contracting dengue fever. It’s crucial to stay informed and vigilant, especially during outbreaks. If you suspect you or someone else has dengue fever, seek medical attention immediately.
