RANIPUR: A 20-year-old girl who had donated a part of her liver to save her father has tragically passed away.
Muqaddas, a resident of Ranipur in Khairpur district, underwent a liver transplant at the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) but could not survive the procedure.
Her family has accused the doctors of negligence, claiming that despite her deteriorating condition, they assured them that she would recover. However, they were informed to collect her body at 2 am.
The grieving family buried her in Shujaabad, and her father, who was already ill, has suffered further health complications after hearing the news of her death.
GIMS Hospital Director Dr Rahim Bakhsh Bhatti said he was unaware of the incident but would investigate. He added that such complications occur in one in 200 transplant cases.
