PESHAWAR: The Sehat Card Plus program of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provided free medical services to 74000 residents from other areas during 2025. The official data shows that Punjab received the most medical services from the program.
Last year, 73919 residents who worked outside the province used hospitals that operated under the SCP program, according to the KP Health Department.
The provincial government spent a total of Rs3.452 billion through State Life Insurance Corporation, which executes the program on behalf of KP. The highest allocation went to Punjab, which treated 40772 residents at 478 empanelled hospitals that operated mainly in Lahore.
The KP government spent Rs1.982 billion for the treatment of patients who received medical services from 478 empanelled hospitals across various provinces.
KP operates 804 empanelled hospitals throughout the country, which residents can access to receive free secondary and tertiary medical services. The services include general surgical procedures, neurosurgical operations, orthopaedic treatments, gynaecological procedures, ophthalmological care, ENT services, and other hospital-based medical treatments.
The program expansion beyond KP has treated 350000 residents who received treatment outside the province, which included 99 liver transplants that occurred in Islamabad and Lahore at a cost of Rs6.5 million for surgical procedures and one-year post-transplant care.
The SCP program provided services to 1.2 million residents during 2025, which cost Rs35 billion. 10.6 million families registered with the program and became eligible for annual benefits of up to Rs1 million. Since its start in February 2016, the program has provided 5 million KP residents with free diagnostic and treatment services.
