PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department initiated a fresh hiring process to cover the province-wide deficiency of physicians.
As the first phase, 166 health workers will be hired on a contract basis, of which 115 will be medical officers and 51 will be specialist consultants, to beefup services in District Headquarters Hospitals (DHQs).
This hiringcampaign aims to enhance the availability of public healthcare, especially in rural and backward regions. One of the main features of the plan is to advance local candidates for hospitals within their respective areas, so that physicians are aware of the local situation and can practice better medicine.
Physicians shall not be sent to other locations, ensuring stability in local health services and enabling them to develop good relations with patients and communities.
The Health Advisor has given his nod to the initiative, making it clear that it will not only generate employment for healthcare professionals but also increase the functionality of hospitals throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Apart from this contract-based recruitment, the government is also accelerating the recruitment of 600 specialist doctors using the Public Service Commission. To make these postsmore affordable, age restrictions have been lowered by five years sothat more experienced professionals can apply.
The advisor has also directed that the promotion of doctors be expedited and that the long-standing seniority problems be solved, which will contribute to increasing morale and motivation of medical staff.
In addition, attemptsare also being made to compile province-level data on specialists, which will facilitate proper deployment and improved delivery of services in the future.
By doing this, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hopes to enhance the overall standard of healthcare services and makesure that medical doctors are being effectively utilized to fulfill the requirements of the population.
