ISLAMABAD: Islamabad has created history when the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, PIMS, was able to conduct the first-ever robotic surgery in the capital.

The landmark procedure represents a technological leap for the healthcare system in Pakistan, one that can provide increased precision and safety in complex surgeries.

The hospital officials said that the advanced “To My Surgical Robot” system was used for the operation, which was carried out successfully at PIMS.

It involved international experts from the UK in performing the procedure, who worked hand in hand with local surgeons to ensure the operation’s success.

The medical team that led the operation included Professor Shamim Khan, Professor Mateen Sharif, and Dr. Javed Burki, who led the entire procedure.

Their expertise was instrumental in the smooth implementation of robotic technology at the hospital.

Robotic surgery will make complex operations much safer and more effective in the future, asserts PIMS medical experts Dr. Atif Inam Shami, Dr. Burhan-ul-Haq, and Dr. Khalid Saeed.

The technology enables minimal incisions, quicker recovery times, and greater accuracy than is possible with conventional surgical methods.
