Sehat Card Hospital Listings Raise Questions Over Islamabad Panel Hospitals

Concerns have emerged over Sehat Card hospital listings after patients in Islamabad reported inconsistencies between official government records and services available at listed hospitals. The issue relates to the Prime Minister’s National Health Program, which promises free medical treatment to eligible citizens at approved public and private hospitals across Pakistan.

The Health Card scheme is widely promoted as a major welfare initiative, allowing cardholders to access treatment without financial burden. Official information is published through government-managed online portals, including the empaneled hospitals directory overseen by State Health authorities. Patients are encouraged to rely on these platforms to identify hospitals offering services under the program.

Islamabad Hospital Listings Under Scrutiny

According to the official empaneled hospitals page, Maroof International Hospital in Islamabad’s F-10 Markaz is shown as a panel hospital under the Health Card scheme. However, users who accessed the hospital’s detailed listing reported that no treatment packages or covered services were displayed under the program.

This absence has raised questions, as panel hospitals are expected to clearly outline available treatments for Health Card holders. Several visitors also claimed that upon visiting the hospital, they could not find a dedicated Health Card counter. Hospital staff, according to patients, were unable to process cases under the scheme, further deepening confusion.

For many patients, particularly those with limited resources, such discrepancies can cause serious difficulties. Families often travel long distances based on official listings, expecting free treatment, only to face delays or denial of services upon arrival.

Patient Confusion and Call for Clarity

The situation has highlighted broader concerns about the reliability of government health databases. Accurate and regularly updated information is critical for public trust, especially for a program designed to support vulnerable communities.

Health policy observers note that mismatches between online records and on-ground implementation can weaken confidence in welfare initiatives. They stress the need for regular audits of empaneled hospitals and clearer coordination between government departments and private healthcare providers.

So far, no formal clarification has been issued regarding the status of Maroof International Hospital within the Health Card scheme. Patients and healthcare advocates are urging authorities to address the issue promptly, update official portals, and ensure transparency.

As the Health Card program continues to expand nationwide, maintaining accurate hospital listings remains essential to ensure that eligible citizens receive the medical support promised under the scheme.
