LAHORE: The Punjab Government has issued a clarification on the discontinuation of Sehat Card services in the province.
“Don’t put your ears on rumours,” is what the authorities have termed it, rejecting the claim of halting of health services on the card.
The authorities have added that the health card is fully functional and that the treatment can be done anywhere in the designated private hospital across the country.
The Punjab Health Initiative Management Company stated that the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) is now the Sehat Card.
It urged consumers to verify that their family members were correctly registered in NADRA records to benefit from the health card services.
Sehat Card Eligibility
Punjab people may easily verify their eligibility for a health card. They just send their CNIC number to 8500 by SMS.
The Punjab Health Initiative Management Company has also created a helpline that is open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. to assist the public if they face any problems in hospitals.
Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government had decided to expand free healthcare under the Sehat Card Scheme by adding more public and private hospitals.
As per the details, CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur has instructed the relevant departments to hold a policy board meeting to finalize the inclusion of more hospitals that meet Sehat Card Scheme standards.
The directives were issued during a Health Department meeting chaired by Ali Amin, as per the official statement.
Chief Minister’s Health Advisor Ehtesham Ali, Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development Ikramullah Khan, Health Secretary Syed Adeel Shah, and other officials were present at the meeting from the Health Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Foundation and Sehat Card Plus.
