TEHRAN: The situation in the region has become more tense after the recent attacks by Israel on Iran.
Israeli authorities have described these operations as preliminary attacks and claimed that about 30 important Iranian figures were targeted.
According to Israeli media reports, several bombs were also dropped on the compound of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
On the other hand, a spokesman for the Iranian embassy in Islamabad confirmed on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday that the son-in-law and daughter-in-law of the Iranian Supreme Leader were martyred in the American and Israeli attacks.
According to the spokesman, the martyred Zahra Haddad Adel was the wife of Mojtaba Khamenei and the daughter-in-law of Ayatollah Khamenei, while her son-in-law also lost his life in the same attacks.
Israeli media had also claimed that Mojtaba Khamenei was targeted in the attacks, however, Iranian authorities have not officially confirmed or denied this.
After the latest development, there is an atmosphere of mourning and sadness in Iran, while fears of a possible reaction and further tension in the region have increased.
Analysts say that these attacks could enter the situation in the Middle East into a new and dangerous phase, the effects of which could also be felt on a global level.
