Bushra Bibi arrested in Toshakhana Reference Case

ISLAMABAD: The wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi,  found herself in police detention while being transported to Adiala Jail. To make the arrest, a combined team of local police and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) representatives was called in.

The police have confirmed that Bushra Bibi was arrested in Rawalpindi. She reportedly made the decision to self-arrest on her way to Adiala Jail. Judge Muhammad Bashir of the Accountability Court sentenced Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison earlier today in the Toshakhana case.

The accused have also been fined Rs 787 million by the court, and they will be barred from holding any public position for a decade. In addition, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) declared its reserved decision regarding a plea that Imran Khan had filed to overturn the Toshakhana case’s jail trial. IHC maintained the ruling.
