HARIPUR: Chinese company, Power Construction Corporation of China, has stopped work on the Tarbela Dam 5th Extension Hydropower Project due to security issues raised after a terrorist attack killed five Chinese nationals near Besham on Tuesday.
In a notification issued on March 26, PowerChina informed all the site workers and office staff to suspend work on the Tarbela Fifth Extension Project with a capacity of 1530 MW till further orders.

“This is to inform all the site workers and office staff that the project work is being suspended till further order due to security reasons from dated 26-03-2024. Due to this all site workers and office staff will be laid off till further notification,” the notification said.
His section in charge will inform the only staff who will come for duty, the company notified.
