The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied Afghanistan deputy interim foreign minister’s remarks regarding the Pakistan-Afghan border on Saturday.

In response to media queries, the Spokesperson Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that any self-serving and fanciful claims regarding the legality of the Pak-Afghan border cannot change the facts of geography, history, and international law.

The Afghan side will be well advised to address Pakistan’s genuine security concerns rather than try to divert public attention with such unfortunate public pronouncements, she stated.

Furthermore, she stated, “Pakistan remains committed to facilitating the fully regulated movement of people and goods across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border based on norms of interstate relations. We will continue to take steps to this end.”

The reaction from the foreign office came after the Afghan interim deputy foreign minister said that Afghanistan would not accept the Durand Line, also known as the Afghanistan–Pakistan border.
