ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan led a high-level conference that produced a comprehensive security plan in advance of the 2024 general elections. The goal of the conference, which was attended by all Capital Police Officers, SSP Operations, AIG Operations, and DPOs, was to guarantee a safe and orderly election process on February 8.

During the meeting, the election security plan was painstakingly prepared. However, the non-release of funds is currently impeding the implementation of critical initiatives, leading to delays in critical operational measures.

Administrative divisions have been established, and the election is geographically divided into eastern and western halves in order to efficiently handle the electoral process. Officers of the DIG level will oversee the process.

To strengthen security protocols, police officers’ vacation time has been suspended indefinitely. In order to carry out extra tasks and preserve order during the election process, volunteers and retired police officers will also be recruited.

The district administration has been asked to supply 500 female volunteers especially for female voting places, recognizing the significance of gender representation.

The electoral code of behavior is to be strictly followed, and any infractions will not be accepted. Protests, the displaying of guns, aerial firing, and any other actions that could disrupt public order before, during, or after the election are all prohibited.

All key polling places will have cameras installed for improved surveillance, and Safe City Islamabad will host a central control room. To carry out their responsibilities with diligence, about 10,000 officers from the Islamabad Police and other law enforcement organizations will be sent in.

Emphasizing that peaceful elections are their main concern, the Islamabad Capital Police invites the public to report any strange activity by calling 15 or using the ICT 15 app. Together, we hope to establish a safe space that promotes democratic engagement and protects the election process.
