Election 2024: Army deployment during elections approved by the Federal cabinet

ISLAMABAD: Tuesday saw the approval of a report by the acting federal cabinet that called for the use of force during the elections on February 8.

Prior to the general elections, the federal cabinet received a summary of the army’s deployment and was asked to approve it.

The army should be sent in as a quick response force for the general elections that are set for February 8th, according to the Interior Ministry’s recommendation.

The summary was accepted by the acting federal cabinet.

After the caretaker federal cabinet approves the Interior Ministry’s report, Pakistan Army soldiers, Rangers, and FC members will carry out election-related tasks.

The severe lack of security personnel forced authorities to make this decision, enlisting the army’s support for the approaching elections.

Punjab, acknowledged as the nation’s election battleground, struggles with a 92,000 manpower shortfall at polling places.

Concurrently, there is a 14,300 security staff shortage in the Karachi Police, including female officers.
