Electricity likely to become more expensive

Preparing to give another shock of electricity to the people due to inflation, a request to increase the price of electricity by 55 paisa per unit has been submitted to NEPRA.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has applied to NEPRA for an increase of 55 paisa per unit, the increase has been requested in view of the September fuel price adjustment.

The increase will put an additional burden on electricity consumers up to RS 8 Billion 37 Crore, the price increase will not be applicable to electricity consumers. NEPRA has completed the hearing on the application, the decision will be taken after scrutiny.
