Fawad Chaudhry gets bail in Corruption case

RAWALPINDI: In a recent development, former Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry’s bail request in relation to a corruption case was granted by the Anti-Terrorism Court, which is presided over by Judge Ali Nawaz.

The bail sum has been fixed by the court at Rs 200,000.

It was alleged that Chaudhry had accepted large bribes in return for helping a private housing society in Dina get a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

In response to Fawad Chaudhry’s bail request, the court ordered him to provide a Rs 200,000 surety bond.

Hiba Ch, the spouse of Fawad Ch, verified the bail via a social media post.

In Rawalpindi, the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has detained Fawad Chaudhry, the former federal information minister, his cousin, and frontman, among others, in connection with allegations of accepting millions of rupees in bribes and abusing power to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) and acquire public land for the construction of a private housing society in the Dina area of GT Road.

In April 2023, the ACE Rawalpindi began an investigation into the matter. It stated that during the investigation, evidence regarding the alleged abuse of authority by Fouq Sherbaz and Fawad Chaudhary and their theft of more than Rs10 million from the private housing society’s administration surfaced. The inquiry officer also suggested that a case be brought against the accused.
