On Wednesday, a team from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) raided a plant that produced counterfeit cigarettes in Rawalpindi’s Jhangi Syedan neighborhood.
The FBR claimed in a statement that the counterfeit cigarette factory was raided and sealed at the request of Member (IR-Operations) Mir Badshah Khan Wazir, with oversight from Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office Rawalpindi.
Assistant Director Shujaat Khan and his group conducted the raid under the direction of Additional Commissioner Headquarters Riaz Khan. After seizing millions of rupees’ worth of counterfeit cigarettes and machinery, the RTO Team closed the plant.

The statement further stated that the aforementioned plant, which was covertly constructed in a building’s basement, produced and distributed fake cigarettes under different brand names throughout Pakistan.
