Four people were killed in an attack at the Lachi Toll Plaza in Kohat

KOHAT: An attack near Lachi Toll Plaza on the Kohat Indus Highway killed four people, including three police officers, early Wednesday morning.

Unidentified assailants targeted the toll plaza and a security checkpoint, causing casualties.

Following reports, large numbers of police and Pakistan Army personnel arrived on the scene quickly.

The entire area was cordoned off as security personnel conducted a thorough search operation to apprehend the perpetrators, who were believed to be hiding in the nearby mountainous region.

The recent Kohat attack comes just two days after an army soldier was killed in an encounter with terrorists in North Waziristan.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that security forces successfully engaged the terrorists, with one being apprehended while injured. Havildar Muhammad Zahir, 41, bravely gave his life during the intense exchange of fire.

The ISPR reported on ongoing efforts to clean up the area and remove any remaining terrorists. The statement emphasized Pakistan’s Security Forces’ unwavering determination to eliminate the terrorist threat, emphasizing the importance of the brave soldiers’ sacrifices.

According to data from the Department of Interior and Tribal Affairs in KP, the areas most affected by terrorism are Peshawar, Khyber, Bajaur, and Tank.

Furthermore, Dera Ismail Khan, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan are designated as terror-affected areas. According to Home and Tribal Affairs documents, there were 1,050 terrorism incidents in KP last year, with 419 in the arranged districts and 631 in the merged districts.
