Speaking at Speaker Mike Johnson’s “Friends of Ireland” luncheon on Capitol Hill in advance of St. Patrick’s Day, US President Joe Biden called his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin “a thug” on Friday.

According to Mirror, Biden emphasized that while “history is watching” the Ukraine conflict claim thousands of lives worldwide, the US must resist the Russian leader and bend down to no one.

“I’m committed to continue doing our part,” stated Biden. I have no doubt that the overwhelming majority of Congressmen will do their share and will keep pushing all of the other lawmakers in this room to oppose Vladimir Putin. He is an outlaw.

The 81-year-old Democratic presidential contender made these remarks while exerting pressure on Congress to accept a $95 billion bill for foreign military aid, which includes help to Gaza and Ukraine.

“They’re badly, badly needed and it sends a clear message America stands up for freedom and we bow down to no one in the world,” Biden continued during his speech at the event.

“I believe we are at a turning point in world history as well as American history,” he said. The choices we make today will shape the course of the next three, four, five, and six decades.
