ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued important instructions to inform citizens regarding the change or correction of date of birth.
A statement issued by NADRA said that as per the rules of the Punjab Government, any change or correction in the date of birth mentioned in the birth certificate can be made only on the basis of the order of the concerned Union Council, Cantonment Board or Municipal Corporation Court.
The statement further said that under the same legal requirement, an application for change or correction of date of birth in National Identity Card, NICOP, CRC or Juvenile Card will be processed by NADRA only if a formal order of the concerned court and a certified Computerized Birth Registration Certificate is submitted.
NADRA said that it is necessary to clarify that the condition of the court order is prescribed under the relevant laws, NADRA is available at all times to guide and facilitate citizens and full assistance is provided to the applicants as per the relevant legal procedure.
This policy will be applicable to cases of change or correction of date of birth based on computerized birth registration certificates issued in Punjab.
