ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan delegation, led by Secretary of Commerce Khurram Agha, will embark on a two-day visit to Kabul from today to hold trade normalizing talks.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, the delegation would visit Afghanistan to hold a talk on normalizing the trade relations under the Afghan Transit Trade (ATT). The trade negotiations will sort out the differences and take more confidence-building measures to ease tension in border areas and deliberate on transit and bilateral trade affairs.
Taking on X, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra said, “Secretary Commerce Khurram Agha will undertake a 2-day visit to Afghanistan on Monday, 25 March 2024, to discuss trade-related matters. Pakistan remains committed to promoting trade and people-to-people ties with Afghanistan.”

Other delegates from Pakistan would include Joint Secretary of Ministry of Commerce Maria Qazi, Additional Secretary of Commerce Dr Wajid Ali Khan, Director General Transit Trade, and Additional Secretary of Interior Khushal Khan.
According to the reports confirmed by the spokesman for the Afghan Commerce Ministry, Abdul Salam Jawad, the Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi will lead the Afghan delegation.
It will be the first high-level interaction between the two sides after recent tensions in border areas. The transit trade between both neighboring countries has witnessed a declining trend in recent months.
