Pakistan Weather Update: Rain, snowfall likely from Feb 25

According to the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), weather in Pakistan may shift because a westerly wave is likely to enter Balochistan on the Feb 25 night and may grip the upper parts of the country on February 26.

Met Office predicts rain and snowfall in the hilly areas in Balochistan and the upper parts of Pakistan from Sunday night to Tuesday (February 25-27).

Under the influence of this weather system, rainfall and snow is expected in multiple parts of the country from Feb 25 (Sunday) to Feb 27 (Tuesday). Isolated hailstorms may also occur during the aforementioned period in the country.

Balochistan Weather Forecast

Rain-wind/thunderstorm (snowfall over the hills) with few heavy falls is expected in Chaghi, Noushki, Kharan, Panjgur, Gwadar, Awaran, Khuzdar, Kalat, Lasbella, Sibbi, Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musakhel and Kohlu on 25th (night) & 26th Feb.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Weather Update

Rain-wind/thunderstorm (snowfall over the hills) is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mohmand, Bajaur, Khyber, Kurram, Kohat, Bannu and Waziristan from 25th (night) to 27th Feb with occasional gaps. Isolated hailstorms may also occur during the period.

Gilgit Baltistan/Kashmir weather

Rain-wind/thunderstorm (snowfall over the hills) is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar), Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from 25th (night) to 27th Feb with occasional gaps. Isolated hailstorm may also occur during the period.

Punjab Rain update

Light to moderate rain-wind/thunderstorm (snowfall over the hills) is expected in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Khushab and Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah and Dera Ghazi Khan on 26th (evening/night) & 27th Feb. Isolated hailstorm may also occur during the period.

Islamabad Weather

Light to moderate rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi from Feb 26 (evening/night) to Feb 27. Isolated hailstorms may also occur during this period.

Sindh Weather

Cloudy weather with gusty winds is expected in southern parts of the province on 25th & 26th Feb.

PMD in a weather advisory said that snowfall may disrupt and cause the closure of roads in north Balochistan and heavy rain may cause flash flooding in local nullahs/streams in Balochistan particularly in Gwadar, Ketch, Panjgur and Awaran districts.
