LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that Pakistan’s first IT city would be established in Lahore on Tuesday.
She announced the decision while chairing the third cabinet meeting in Lahore. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, the chief secretary of Punjab, and the Inspector General of Police.
During the cabinet meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz announced that tech giants like Google, and Microsoft have expressed their interest in the IT city. It was decided in the meeting that the land of IT City will be given to Lahore’s Central Business District Authority.

The chief minister also ordered that the Punjab Central Business District Authority take over the Lahore Knowledge Park. The world’s leading educational institutions will be invited to build campuses in the Knowledge City, she said.
During the meeting, the chief minister approved annual and additional budget grants for 2023-24. Chief Minister Punjab also instructed to complete both towers of IT City in one year. She also approved the 1000 electric bike projects.
