PCB board of governors approves major infrastructure projects

LAHORE: Important meeting of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Board of Governors was held via video link under the chairmanship of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, during which key decisions were taken regarding cricket infrastructure, the Pakistan Super League (PSL), domestic cricket, and upcoming international events.

The Board formally approved the second phase of the renovation of the National Cricket Stadium Karachi. It was also decided to upgrade the LCCA Ground on the model of London’s iconic Oval Ground, and the Board of Governors granted approval for the LCCA Ground’s upgradation.

During the meeting, the Board appreciated the successful PSL road shows held in London and New York, commending Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and his team for their hard work and professionalism.

The Board also paid tribute to the Chairman’s personal efforts in ensuring the continuation of the Sri Lankan team’s recent tour of Pakistan. A resolution of gratitude for Mohsin Naqvi was unanimously passed by the members.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi said that the credit for the continuation of the Sri Lankan tour goes to the entire team rather than any single individual

. He added that sincere efforts were made, and Allah Almighty granted success. He stated that the success of the PSL road shows was a collective achievement of the PCB and PSL teams, who worked tirelessly to establish the PSL as an international brand.

As per details, the PCB Chairman further informed the meeting that efforts are underway to host PSL 11 matches at the Muzaffarabad Stadium, with plans to hold international matches there in the future as well. He also announced the construction of a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Islamabad.

The meeting was informed that a renowned private firm has begun the scrutiny of clubs at the regional level. PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer gave a detailed briefing on the PSL road shows.

Additionally, the Board of Governors was briefed on upcoming ICC women’s and men’s cricket tournaments, measures to strengthen the domestic cricket structure, and plans to increase the number of tournaments and matches at the grassroots level.
