Spokesman Punjab Police said that 512 suspects involved in kite flying were arrested across the province on March 25. According to the police, 535 cases were registered while 59877 kites, 700 strings, and spinning wheels were recovered from the possession of the accused.
Spokesman Punjab Police said that 2991 people were arrested while 2855 cases were registered in the ongoing crackdown during a month. 105076 kites and 2791 spinning wheels were recovered from the possession of the accused. Police have arrested numerous kite vendors and flyers, and seized kites, string wheels, and other things during the operations.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed that CCPO Lahore, RPOs, and DPOs adopt zero tolerance against kite flying and those involved in the manufacture, sale, and use of metal strings and kites should be brought to justice, the press release reads.
IG Punjab further said that strict action should also be taken against those who sell kites and metallic strings online. IGP Punjab requested citizens to support the police in their campaign against kite flying. Public awareness should be raised about the deadly harm of kite flying with the support of civil society, IG Punjab Dr. Usman said.
On March 22, a 22-year-old man died in Faisalabad after he fell off his motorcycle when a string slit his throat. Citizens criticized police for failing to impose rules and regulations for kite flying. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited the victim’s house and ordered a large-scale crackdown against this blood game across the province.
