Russia’s largest air strike on Ukraine resulted in 30 deaths and over 160 injuries

According to Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, Russia used almost “every type of weapon in its arsenal.”

Russia launched its largest missile barrage during its war on Kyiv and several other Ukrainian cities on Friday morning, resulting in at least 30 fatalities and over 160 injuries, Ukraine reported on Saturday.

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, asserted in a statement that Russia “used nearly every type of weapon in its arsenal” to target homes and a maternity hospital.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force claims that Russia’s air defenses, which were defeated on Friday, have substantially improved.

He went on to say that Russia employed hard-to-intercept hypersonic, cruise, and ballistic missiles, such as the X-22 type, and that “we’ve never seen so many targets hit simultaneously.”

Out of 158 missiles and drones, the air force reported that 114 had been shot down. Only a direct missile hit could cause this level of devastation.

For months, falling debris was the main source of the damage and deaths that Ukrainians constantly expected. A bigger threat has now resurfaced.

With the exception of the early stages of the war’s continuous bombardment, Ukrainian Air Force Spokesperson Yuriy Ignat declared that this was “the most massive missile attack” and a “record number” of missiles fired.

The UN said that the attacks had to end “immediately” and denounced them, according to AFP.

UN assistant secretary-general Mohamed Khiari said, “Unfortunately, today’s horrific assaults were only the latest in a series of escalating attacks by the Russian Federation.”

According to General Wieslaw Kukula, Chief of Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, “everything indicates that a Russian missile entered Polish airspace…,” Poland has reported that a Russian missile has crossed its airspace. It departed as well.”

Ukraine is pleading with its Western allies to continue providing military support in the face of ongoing Russian attacks.

President of the United States Joe Biden urged Congress to get past its differences and approve fresh funding for Ukraine following the release of Washington’s last batch of weapons under current agreements that Congress still needs to renew.

“Unless Congress takes urgent action in the new year, we will not be able to continue sending the weapons and vital air defence systems Ukraine needs to protect its people,” Biden stated.

“Congress must step up and act without any further delay.”

Following Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s declaration that the United Kingdom “must continue to stand with Ukraine — for as long as it takes,” Britain announced that it would be sending hundreds more air-defence missiles to Kiev.
