PTI chief Rana Jamil was detained outside the RO office on May 9th.
Advocate Sher Afzal, the nephew of the PTI leader, claims that RO had a hand in Rana Jamil’s apprehension.

In relation to the events of May 9, Nankana Sahib’s returning officer (RO) office placed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Rana Jamil Hassan Khan under arrest.

Good Khan, whose real name is Hassan, was taken into custody on Thursday after he was called to RO’s NA-112 office to confirm his signatures in advance of the general elections that are scheduled for February 8 of next year.

The PTI leader’s arrest was confirmed by the police, who stated that it was related to the events of May 9, the day that former PTI chairman Imran Khan was detained in the Al-Qadir Trust case, sparking nationwide violent protests.

Speaking to the media outside the RO’s office, the nephew of the PTI leader, Advocate Sher Afzal, stated that when RO Rai Zulfikar was arrested, he had called his uncle to confirm his signatures.

He asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to look into his claims that the RO was complicit in Hassan’s arrest.

“We received a call from the RO office’s official phone number for the verification of Rana Jameel Hassan’s signature,” he claimed.

The PTI leader was detained outside of his office, according to RO Zulfikar, who also stated that he is unsure of the reason for the arrest. The PTI leader had never visited his office.

Hassan, who was detained in the May 9 case by the Mandi Faizabad Police Station, is scheduled to appear in court today, Saturday.

Authorities detained thousands of PTI employees and supporters after the May 9 riots left at least eight people dead and numerous others injured.

Because they participated in acts of violence and assaults on military installations, hundreds of party members and high ranking officials were imprisoned.

The General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and Jinnah House, among other civil and military installations, were targeted by the miscreants during the protests. May 9 was declared “Black Day” by the military, which also decided to prosecute the demonstrators under the Army Act.
