Snowfall Update: PMD forecasts significant rains and snowfall for Murree, Galyat and Hilly areas

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy snowfall and rain for the weekend in Murree, Galyat, and other popular tourist destinations in Pakistan. Balochistan and upper Sindh are under the influence of a westerly wave, according to the synoptic condition. It is probably going to impact Pakistan’s upper regions starting tonight.

Given these circumstances, Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday are likely to bring rain and snow to Murree, Galyat, Gilgit-Batistan, Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Transportation in Murree, Galyat, Malam Jabba, Kalam, Chitral, Dir, Hunza, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Garhi Dupatta, and Rawlakot is probably going to be impacted by snowfall during that time. It is recommended that visitors exercise caution. The predicted minimum temperatures for Murree on Saturday and Sunday are -04 to -02 and -02 to 00 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Over the past day, the majority of the nation’s tourism sites saw cold and partly overcast weather. Nonetheless, there were spots where light rain and snowfall fell.

The country’s coldest spot is still Kalam, where the temperature can dip by 14 degrees Celsius. It was three degrees Celsius below freezing in Murree. It was noted that the relative humidity in the evening was 55%. Travelers flocked to Murree, Galyat, and other popular tourist spots across the nation to experience the abundant snowfall. There was a traffic jam at Malika-e-Kohsar as well as on the routes to Galyat and other hill settlements due to the large influx of tourists.
