Ameer Balaj Tipu, the son of Tipu Truckanwala, was gunned down by unknown persons during a wedding ceremony near Lahore’s Thokar Niaz Beg neighborhood on Sunday night.

According to the Lahore Police, the assailant was killed in the retaliatory firing where two people were also injured along with Balaj Tipu.

Son of Tipu Truckanwala, who recently joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) after quitting the PTI, died of bullet injuries in Lahore.

Police claimed that Balaj, who was in his early 30s, was attending a wedding ceremony for the son of an ex-DPS officer in a residential society in Chung when a gunman opened fire on him.

However, the assailant was also killed by the retaliatory fire of Balaj’s gunmen. The three injured were shifted to Jinnah Hospital where Balaj succumbed to his injuries.

Ameer Balaj and his family had a history of enmity for at least three generations. Newly elected MNA of Muslim League-N Attaullah Tarar also rushed to the hospital as soon as he got the information.

Balaj’s father, Tipu Truckanwala was similarly shot dead in the parking lot of Allama Iqbal Airport in Lahore in 2010. Balaj’s death may spark a new chapter of murderous enmity, which began with the assassination of his grandfather, Billa Truckanwala, in 1994.
