MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has called for mandatory cyber safety education in Indian schools after sharing a personal incident involving his younger daughter.

Speaking at a public event, Kumar revealed that a few months ago, his daughter was playing an online video game when an unknown stranger began sending her inappropriate messages.

“While she was playing the game, a message popped up asking if she was male or female. When she replied’female’, the stranger demanded sexually explicit pictures. My daughter immediately shut down the game and informed my wife,” he said.

Terming the experience a wake-up call, the actor stressed that online harassment is a growing threat to children. “This is how things begin. The actor termed it a part of cybercrime, adding that this is becoming bigger than street crime.
