LAHORE: Popular comedian Lucky Dear, a popular name in Pakistan’s entertainment world, died in Lahore on Tuesday due to a long illness. He was 60 years old at the time of his death.

Close family members told sources that the seasoned entertainer was undergoing treatment at Mayo Hospital for lung disease, diabetes, and multiple organ failure. Although doctors tried their best and the public offered prayers, his condition deteriorated in the past few days, resulting in his death.

Hospital authorities confirmed that Lucky Dear fell into a coma last month as his liver, lung, and stomach ailments grew severe.

He was under emergency ICU treatment by round-the-clock monitoring, with costs borne by the state.

Physicians limited relatives’ visits in his last days so that treatment could not be interrupted. Unfortunately, he could not be saved by any efforts.

Four decades of entertainment heritage

Lucky Dear’s working life was for over 40 years in theatre, television, and film. With his quick wit and excellent timing, he acted in scores of plays and films.

His contribution left a permanent mark on Lahore’s thriving theatre scene and influenced generations of comedians. Coworkers recall him as a man committed to sharing happiness with laughter.

Fans, coworkers

Almost immediately upon the news leaking out, tributes were flowing on social media from fellow performers, comedians, and fans alike. He was hailed as a “true legend of stage comedy” whose craft illuminated lives even in hard times.

His peers lauded his commitment to show business, his kindness to young performers, and his skill at making people laugh even offstage.

Family members confirmed Lucky Dear’s death but stated that arrangements for his funeral prayers will be made known later. Friends, public, and entertainment industry members are likely to flock Lahore to bid their farewell.
