KARACHI: The local court of Karachi sentenced film director Jamshed Mahmood alias Jami to 2 years in prison.
Karachi’s Additional District and Sessions Judge South sentenced Jamshed Mahmood to 2 years in prison and a fine of Rs 10,000 while pronouncing the verdict in the defamation case against filmmaker Jamshed Mahmood alias Jami.
Director Sohail Javed had filed a private complaint against Jamshed Mahmood.
The petition stated that Jamshed Mahmood read a letter from an anonymous girl who had survived sexual assault at the Jamshoro Lahoti Mela.
Jamshed Mahmood had posted the letter on a social networking website, after which many people in the comments section guessed that Sohail Javed was the one who sexually assaulted the girl, and Jami did not deny these speculations or allegations.
In this regard, Jamshed Mahmood’s lawyer said that the allegations made in the private complaint are false and baseless.
