ISLAMABAD: Rising television actress Dua Zahra has issued a clarification regarding her earlier remarks about Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam, after her comments sparked a massive debate online.

Speaking during a recent podcast, Dua Zahra admitted that she feels hesitant to speak on the subject, explaining that her previous words were taken out of context. “I said something else, but it was presented in a different way,” she noted.

The actress stressed that she purely admires Babar Azam as a cricketer. “I respect him and support him because of his abilities on the field. I never said that I want to marry him,” she added, adding that the rumors linking her name with Babar Azam hurt her parents.

Dua Zahra shared that she also showed video clips of her family to prove that she had not made any inappropriate statements.

She reiterated that her initial light-hearted comment about having a “crush” was simply about her admiration for cricket and Babar Azam’s achievements, and not any personal suggestion or intention.
