HARYANA: The body of rising Punjabi singer Inder Kaur was recovered from the Neelon canal in Dhyana, according to Indian media reports.
According to the police, the singer was allegedly kidnapped and murdered, while the family has filed serious allegations, calling the incident a planned murder.
According to the police and the family, Inder Kaur left her home on May 13 at around 8:30 pm to buy groceries in a Ford Figo vehicle, but she did not return after that.
The complaint filed by her brother, Jotinder Singh, said that during the search, the family suspected that Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Bhalur, could be involved in the incident, who allegedly wanted to forcefully marry Inder Kaur.
The family maintains that Inder Kaur had rejected Sukhwinder Singh’s marriage proposal, after which he allegedly held a grudge against them.
The family has further alleged that Sukhwinder Singh allegedly came to Punjab from Canada and kidnapped Inder Kaur at gunpoint along with his accomplice Karamjeet Singh, later killed him, threw his body in the Neelon Canal, and escaped and returned to Canada.
The family has also raised questions over the police action and has taken the stand that, despite the FIR being registered on May 15, no timely action was taken.
Inder Kaur was a rising name in the world of Punjabi music and was known for her regional singing and growing popularity on social media. Her famous songs include ‘Sone Di Chardi’, ‘Jija’, ‘Sohna Lagda,’ and ‘Desi Sare Da’.
